The Bottom Line

My review of Sol CBD is good because of their non-GMO, organic hemp quality and brand reputation; however, there is some room for improvement concerning their accuracy variances, pricing, and limited product catalog. They do offer free shipping with a $85 order minimum, and include a 60 day money back satisfaction guarantee on all orders.

Sol CBD offers products that are available in tinctures, capsules, topicals along with skin care, and a pet tincture. Their products range from 25 mg to 3600 mg in potency and are priced from $45.00 to $327.00. They have an average price point of $.40, meaning that their product prices are higher than average when compared to other organic brands in the market.

The accuracy variances for two of the Sol CBD products were under the acceptable 10% limit, with two products testing above the 10% variance. Two of their products passed all standard purity testing for residuals, microbes, pathogens, and heavy metals, but two were not purity tested, according to the third party lab reports. In addition, tests for pesticide levels were only available for one item.

Pros: Cons:
  • Organic, non-GMO products
  • Partnership with 1% For The Planet
  • Rewards program, bulk buy pricing, and subscribe & save discounts
  • 40% military discount
  • No centralized lab testing hub
  • Customer service chat pop ups while browsing websit
  • Higher than average pricing
  • 85$ order minimum required for free shipping

About the Company

Sol CBD is a small, family owned and operated company that was founded in 2015 by husband and wife team, Larry and Oksana Ostrovsky. The couple have each worked as advocates of natural health solutions for over eight years, according to the company. Sol CBD claims on their streamlined website that their top priority is the customer and service, which is reflected in the company’s user friendly buying experience.

The company is a partner with several high profile cannabis nonprofits, such as Marijuana Policy Project and NORML, both of whom work tirelessly to improve cannabis and CBD policies and regulations that affect the current market. This is one example of Sol CBD’s commitment to giving back to the community on a larger scale. According to the website, their partnership with 1% For The Planet is another example that “shows their dedication to regenerative, sustainable, and renewable methods and resources.”

Independent CBD testing is an invaluable quality and safety control measure to ensure that the labeled amounts of CBD and THC are very close to the contents of each final product a customer receives. All of the products in my Sol CBD order were third party tested for CBD and THC potency, and most were purity tested for residuals and other foreign contaminants, such as heavy metals and pathogens.

Using the “Test Results, ” link provided, Sol CBD customers can view all available third party lab reports for their CBD product catalog on each individual product page online:

Using that “Test Results” link on each corresponding product page, it was easy to match the products with the independent third party lab reports provided. As far as the highest accuracy variance in this order, the 250 mg Liposomal pet tincture tested with 291 total mg of CBD, which represents a 16.4% accuracy variance which is higher than the acceptable 10% limit.

The lowest accuracy variance was found in the 500 mg full spectrum, organic Sol CBD Cinnamint tincture, which tested as containing 516 total mg of CBD. This represents an accuracy variance of 3.2%, well below the 10% variance limit allowed, as seen here in the COA provided online:

All products were confirmed by independent third party testing to contain less than the legal 0.3% limit of THC, and purity tests for heavy metals, pathogens, and microbes were passed by most products. To the best of our knowledge, however, only one ordered product was lab tested for pesticides.

The owners of Sol CBD, the Ostrovskys, are purported to be “stewards of CBD and the plant it comes from.” They remain a small, family owned operation, and on the company website, Sol CBD states that their mission, which consists of helping people and delivering superior products, is more important to them than corporate financial gain. The company offers an informational blog, an educational CBD guide, and detailed package inserts to provide education to their consumers, in an effort to help people make informed buying decisions when it comes to CBD.

There is a dedicated buyer review section on Sol CBD’s Facebook page that can help potential consumers see a more accurate picture of how actual customers feel about this brand. In addition, Sol CBD is clearly committed to giving back to the community through various nonprofit programs and partnerships:

Manufacturing Process

Sol CBD is a legal, authorized grower of premium organic U.S. hemp, sourced locally from Colorado farms. Sol CBD’s full spectrum hemp is extracted using a supercritical CO2 process before being formulated with easily digestible MCT oil as the carrier for maximum bioavailability.

After formulation, the next step is independent third party CBD testing, which is an important quality and safety control measure utilized by Sol CBD to ensure that the labeled potency of CBD and THC matches the contents. They conduct independent purity and potency lab testing for all of their products and post the available results online.

Range of Products

They offer premium quality, organic, full spectrum CBD products that are available in the form of tinctures, topicals, capsules, and a pet product. Their products range in potency from 25 mg to 3600 mg, and are higher priced than comparable premium organic brands, with an overall average price point of $.40 per mg of CBD.

CBD Tinctures

These organic full spectrum tinctures are CO2 extracted, and the company suggests that consumers start with a dose of 1 full dropper, which is 1 ml. Buying Experience

On their user friendly website, each product page provides comprehensive product information for each item in that category, as well as ingredients, potencies, and suggested uses. There is an easy way to shop all products using the “Products” link located in the main menu. Once in this section, customers can utilize the company’s filter tool provided to search all products by potency, name, or delivery method/category.

As mentioned earlier, all of the independent third party lab reports available concerning purity and potency for the Sol CBD products are conveniently located under the “Test Results” link that is found on every corresponding product page online.

Their customer support team is easily available via online chat, messaging, email and phone. Customer service was contacted online via chat about their organic hemp quality and questioned concerning if it was free of pesticides. Sol CBD team member, Andrea, immediately responded with the information requested:

Sol CBD orders get free shipping only with an $85 order minimum, otherwise, a flat fee of $5.95 is added upon checkout. Handling and delivery times vary, as noted online by the company under their “Shipping Policy” section:

A shipping confirmation email with tracking was received. The order arrived via USPS in a plain brown box that was discreet. The products were securely packaged and the box contained individually wrapped items.
