The Bottom Line

Funky Farms receives a very good review. They are a premium CBD brand based on the quality of their organic broad and full spectrum hemp, the impressive accuracy of their third party lab test potency results, their dedication to product transparency, and the wide variety of potencies offered. Funky Farms has a moderate average price point, which is a lower price point than other comparable brands in the market, and they have several shipping rates and delivery speeds for customers who desire multiple options.

Funky Farms publishes the quality, potency, purity, and all pertinent third party lab results for each product directly under the “Lab Results” link on the bottom of every webpage. Before making a purchase, a Funky Farms customer knows the potency for each desired product, offering buyers a sense of quality assurance right away.

They carry a wider range of CBD potencies and offer far more delivery methods than other comparable brands, offering both full and broad spectrum products, from 10 mg to 2,000 mg. Their vast product catalog includes CBD gummies, tinctures, gel capsules, daily dose packets, and a wide selection of vape products from traditional vape cartridges, to vape juice, to ready to use disposable vape pens.

Their prices range from $4.99 up to $254.99, which equals a low $.03 to $.04 price per mg of CBD for their gel capsules. Their CBD tinctures have a mid-range $.05 to $.09 price point, and their convenient daily dose packs also have a moderate $.07 average price. Their highest price point is $.19 per mg of CBD for the gummies, ready to use vape pens, and the drink mixes. Their overall average price point is $.09, meaning that Funky Farms does have moderate or average priced CBD products when compared to similar brands in the market.

They offer multiple shipping options, ranging from a flat fee to overnight delivery, and a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee is provided for all products. The accuracy variances for these Funky Farms products are all well below the 10% variance allowed. Products also passed testing for standard residuals, solvents, microbes, heavy metals, and other foreign contaminants, with the exception of one test for one single product, as noted below.

Pros: Cons:
  • First responder, veteran/military, teacher, student discounts
  • Vegan products
  • Accepts Bitcoin payments
  • Multiple shipping options and delivery speeds available
  • Heavy email marketing upon newsletter signup
  • Not much company information available online
  • Currently unable to ship to Louisiana and Massachusetts

Methodology

  • Read our methodology for more details about ranking and our review process.

    Data Collection and Rating

In our review process, we receive CBD products directly from the brand to personally review ourselves, so we can give you an accurate idea of the packaging, potency, taste, smell, feel, and overall experience of each product. We also discuss the company’s shipping and returns policy.
Another important step we take is reviewing each individual product for details such as the certificate of analysis to assess the CBD level and CBD variance, THC level, and contaminants.
We take all factors into account and give each CBD brand and each CBD product a score for each parameter.
All of the information we collect is generated into a concise, easy to read review and put into our extensive database. Keep in mind, our reviews are never intended to substitute or act as medical advice.

    Product DataBase

Our database collects key information for each product, including CBD product prices, potencies, third-party lab test results, flavors, additional ingredients, hemp quality, extract types, product variety, and more.
We then use all of this combined data to give each brand and product a standardized rating out of five points.

    Brand Review Process

There are many factors we consider when we review the quality, integrity and products of a CBD brand. We rate each brand on several factors including:

    • Transparency & accuracy. It is important that a CBD brand is forthcoming with who makes up their team, their mission, manufacturing process, and lab reports. Also, we look for the accuracy of the CBD and THC levels in the products’ lab reports.
    • Hemp quality. Hemp quality can be a deciding factor between a good CBD brand and a great CBD brand. We look for organic and sustainable farming methods with attention to detail in each manufacturing step.
    • The variety of products they offer. We like to see several CBD product types and flavors.
    • Customer service. It is essential that each CBD company has multiple ways to connect to customer service to ask questions. We look for speedy and complete responses.
    • Price and discounts. Competitive pricing is an important aspect of being a top-rated CBD brand. We also look for discount options and ways to save on your order.

    Market Reports

Another way Leafreport stands out from other CBD review websites is our evidence-based market reports. For each one, we purchase different types of CBD products and send them for independent lab testing to check whether their levels of CBD and other cannabinoids match the label.

    Information Updates

Writers and editors conduct our reviews and our database on an annual basis but continually make updates throughout the year. We maintain frequent contact with brands and highlight any changes in offerings.

    The Review Team

Our review team is made up of a wide chain of qualified CBD review writers, some with medical degrees, some with statistics backgrounds, others with ample experience in the CBD arena. Each and every one of our CBD reviews are approved by our medical reviewer before being published on our website to ensure all information is accurate.

    Conflicts of Interest

While Leafreport does have partnerships with many of the reviewed brands, we manage potential conflicts of interest by maintaining a wall between our content and business operations. This wall is designed to prevent our writers and the review process from being influenced or impacted by our business partnerships. This way, all reviews can provide an unbiased review that serves the interests of our users.

    About the Company

Funky Farms is a publicly traded company owned by a Canadian cannabis company called TerraSend, who operates the brand Original Blend, as well. The mission of Funky Farms Hemp is to spread awareness about the health and wellness benefits that are associated with CBD rich hemp oil, according to the company.

There isn’t much information about the company on the main website, like their mission statement, but on their CBD wholesale site, it says that the Florida based Funky Farms team is dedicated to “pushing industry standards to new heights by delivering compelling new products.” They believe in sourcing organic hemp from quality farms in Oregon to produce their premium category hemp CBD extract, verified by their independent third party lab reports accessible online.

    Transparency

Customers of this brand will immediately notice that official lab results are posted to every product page online. They publish all third party test results for all products in their centralized “Lab Results” webpage, and customers can easily switch tabs between all the different products available to CBD consumers. These product third party lab test reports are available for customers to view and download.

Independent CBD testing is an important quality and safety measure to ensure what is on the label in terms of CBD and THC content matches what is in the contents of each final product a customer receives. All of the products in my Funky Farms order were tested for the standard CBD and THC potency and terpenes, as well as undergoing purity tests for all contaminants, such as solvents, heavy metals, E.coli, and pesticides.

    Accuracy

This company manufactures in a GMP compliant facility, and they employ proprietary techniques during all stages of their CBD process, from harvest to packaging. Their CBD oil is sourced from non-GMO, organic hemp, complete with a broad spectrum or full spectrum of cannabinoids, for maximizing the entourage effect.

The test results posted online were easy to match exactly to the batch numbers on my product labels, using the convenient “Lab Results” tab under the main menu tab online. Customers can also scan the QR code available on each product’s label and box, and they’ll be taken directly to the lab results on the main company website to enter the batch number clearly listed on the label.

The lab report for my batch of their 1000 mg Alaskan Ice tincture had a 1.6% variance in CBD with 1016 total mg, and a non-detectable THC level. The 50 mg vegan CBD gummies tested at 47.1 mg of CBD, which represents a 5.8% variance. These two products are well under the 10% variance allowed. The company recommends these products for sublingual or oral use only.

Their gel capsules were labeled to contain 50 mg, or 1500 mg per bottle. The lab reports showed a fractional 0.8% variance in CBD content at 50.4 mg or 1512 total mg of CBD, with a total of 0% THC. It was well below the 10% variance allowed, and all products in the order tested under the legal 0.3% THC limit, as clearly advertised on the labels.

The accuracy variances for these Funky Farms products are excellent and well below the 10% variance allowed as far as potency. As for purity, all products were tested for standard contaminants by Funky Farms, and only the 1000 mg Alaskan Ice tincture registered a trace amount of one pesticide on the third party lab reports provided by the company.

    Reputation

Established in 2017, Funky Farms CBD is a company based in Florida who is quickly building a loyal following, as seen in the number of satisfied customer reviews written and submitted regularly and voluntarily on the main company website. Funky Farms uses the Instagram social media platform effectively to market to and educate CBD shoppers, as well as to highlight particularly insightful customer reviews.

Their customer service is outstanding, responding within one business day, and they stand behind their products 100%. If customers are not satisfied, Funky Farms will easily exchange or refund any purchase with no questions asked for 30 days. Their company tagline is “No Junk. All Funk.”

    Leafreport’s market reports score

Drinks report – Funky Farms received a «B» score in our drinks products report where we tested 22 different CBD drinks in an independent lab.

    Manufacturing Process

They are a legal, authorized grower of premium organic hemp. All of the products at Funky Farms are sourced from U.S. farms in Northern Oregon. All of the Funky Farms CBD formulations are plant based and use 100% certified organic, non-GMO ingredients that contain no pesticides, fertilizers, additives, fillers, or synthetics of any kind, as advertised on their labels and product inserts.

According to the company and corresponding lab reports, Funky Farms conducts independent third party lab testing for all products to validate the purity and potency, or that the CBD quantity stated on the label actually is in the bottle.

They use a clean CO2 extraction process for all of their products except the gummies, which are ethanol extracted as seen in the lab results. All of Funky Farms CBD products are formulated with easily digestible, organic MCT oil as the carrier which is scientifically proven to allow maximum absorption of CBD by the body.

They offer a premium quality line of full spectrum products. More recently, Funky Farms started to offer broad spectrum CBD with their new Reserve Line of ‘Crystal Resistant Distillate’ vape cartridges.

Their products are available in tinctures, gummies, vape liquid, vape cartridges and ready to use pens, capsules, and the unique daily dose packets offered in every product line by Funky Farms. Customers can make a one time purchase, or subscribe to bi-weekly or monthly automatic shipments of any product, for a 15% savings on every purchase.

    Buying Experience

The ordering process was effortless on the Funky Farms website. All of the pertinent customer information can be found on each corresponding product page, as well as suggested uses. While artistic in design, their colorful designs and busy product packaging are distracting even while just ordering on the Funky Farms website.

There is a user friendly main menu, and a “Shop CBD” link that gives customers direct access to their entire product catalog at one time by clicking on each product category widget. There are easy to navigate links available on the main menu button.

Customer support was contacted via email, concerning discounts and whether their gummies were vegan or gluten free. They replied within 1 business day with the information that I requested, telling me that their gummies were 100% vegan.

The comprehensive “Lab Results” link is available to customers in the main menu, and it is also located at the bottom of any page on the main website as seen here:

The order was processed within 2 days before being shipped via UPS, and a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number was received. All orders have multiple shipping options, ranging from a flat fee to a calculated amount based on delivery method:

It arrived within 4 business days of placing the order online, but the package received was only somewhat discreet. While one side of the box is plain, the CBD company name can be clearly seen on the other side of the box. Some of the Funky Farms CBD products come in light resistant pouches or plastic containers, but the tincture bottle is not opaque. Tinctures arrive in frosted clear glass bottles.

My batch of their 1000 mg full spectrum Alaskan Ice tincture had a slight 1.6% variance in CBD content with 1016 total mg, and a 0% or non detectable THC level. This product was well under the 10% variance allowed for potency. For purity, this tincture showed trace amounts of one pesticide on the readily available lab reports. The company recommends these CO2 extracted products for sublingual or oral use only.

This tincture comes in a frosted glass bottle that is not opaque. It is light golden yellow in appearance and has a thin viscosity, making it a little messy during administration. The serving size recommended by the company is 1 ml, or one full dropper; however, there are no measuring marks on the dropper, which makes it difficult to get a precise dose if you do not want a full 1 ml dose. There are 30 servings per bottle of tincture.

CBD Granddaddy Purple Ready to use Vape Pen, 200 mg review

The pen comes pre-charged, and upon inhalation, it lights up on the opposite end so that users know they are receiving a measured dose of CBD when inhaled. That light will flash when the disposable battery is dead. Consumers may still see some product left in the chamber, but the company notes this is typical.

This vape pen contains their new broad spectrum CBD formulation. These broad spectrum ready to use products have a potency of 200 mg per pen. This product had a fruity but herbal CBD flavor, and was formulated using a CO2 extraction process. There are no specific suggested uses provided by the company.

This broad spectrum CBD product undergoes CO2 extraction, and uses MCT oil as the carrier. This vape juice had a sweet CBD flavor with very little herbal aftertaste, and was formulated using a CO2 extraction process. Again, no specific uses are suggested by the company.
