The Bottom Line

Transparency, Accuracy & Reputation

Betoken was created for the daily struggles adults face with their health and wellness. The brand is specifically designed for adults, and focused on eco-friendly practices. They use organic, sustainable farming and third-party test their products. However, the lab reports do not detail the amount of THC and CBD and the only contaminants they test for are microbes.

Hemp Quality

Betoken’s hemp is sustainability and organically farmed, and it is non-GMO. Their website does not indicate their extraction method, however, their products are made with either broad or full spectrum CBD.

Customer Experience

We reached out to customer service via their instant message system twice, and received a response via Facebook, which was not a straightforward process. In terms of the buying experience, their products are organized only by condition, not product type, which makes navigation a bit confusing. Checking out is easy and simple. However, they do not offer any returns, refunds, or exchanges.

Variety of Products

The product line from Betoken is limited. They offer capsules, creams, and bath bombs only.

Price & Discounts

There are several product bundles, which can save you a small quantity of money on your order. Plus, if you subscribe, you can save 10%. Overall, the price of their products is reasonable. Per mg of CBD, the price is around $0.10 for most products. When it comes to creams, comparable brands tend to have a higher price per mg of CBD, which makes their price very competitive. To learn more about how we compare prices for CBD, look at our pricing report.

About the Company

Betoken CBD was founded by Liz, who is a mother of two, and practiced law for 3 years. After retiring from law in 2013, she founded her first CBD company in 2018 and went on to create Betoken in 2021. Their focus is on providing adults with effective and high quality CBD products for the day to day stressors and health concerns they face, such as aches and pains, sleep issues, or high stress levels. Aside from Liz, there is no further information on who makes up the company’s team.

The company’s headquarters is located in Maine, and they can be reached via phone, email, or instant chat on the website.

There is a comprehensive blog that offers general information on CBD, how to use it, and more. However, the blog page does not provide answers to questions in relation to shipping, refunds, and other customer experience topics.

Betoken third party tests their products. We assessed the available report for the Go Away, I’m Fizzy bath bomb, There is no batch number or QR code on the product. There is a link to the certificate of analysis on the website. The report shows there is no detectable THC, and 28.4mg of CBD per bath bomb. This is 3.4mg more than listed leading to a CBD variance of 14%. This is above the acceptable 10% variance. This sample was tested for microbes, and passed, but it was not tested for any other contaminants.

Manufacturing Process

Betoken’s farms are located in Massachusetts where they grow non-GMO industrial hemp without the use of pesticides. Although they follow organic farming practices, they do not hold a USDA organic certification. In addition, they practice sustainable farming as well as using eco-friendly packaging. All of their product packaging and shipping containers are fully recyclable, which means less plastic waste for the environment.

Their manufacturing plant is also in Massachusetts, two hours away from their headquarters in Maine. The manufacturing facility is Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certified. This certification ensures their practices are consistent and of high standard. They use CO2 extraction to create both full and broad spectrum CBD.

They third party test their products, however, they do not put batch numbers on their products, so you cannot be certain if the report you read on their website is specific to your product. Plus, the reports do not indicate the quantities of THC and CBD in each product. The testing takes the form of pass or fail.

Range of Products

Capsules

There are two CBD capsule options available from Betoken, The Hello Mellow and Nighty Night capsules. Both are made with 15mg of broad spectrum CBD along with synergistic herbs to support the stress response, or induce sleep. Each bottle contains 30 capsules.

Topicals

There are two topical CBD creams offered by Betoken: Pain, Pain Go Away and Not This Month Cream. Both are made with 500mg of broad spectrum CBD and herbs that alleviate muscle aches and pains, or PMS symptoms. The creams are sold in 2oz portions. These creams are also offered in a stick form under the name of their old company name, Good Jane.

Bath Bombs

There is one bath bomb product available: Go Away, I’m Fizzy. It is made with 25mg of full spectrum CBD along with MCT oil, epsom salt and other all natural ingredients.

Coupons, Deals, & Samples

There are no sample products or specific discounts for veterans or other populations. You can, however, earn points on your purchases which allows you to save money on future purchases. Plus, if you refer a friend, you can both save $10 on your purchases of over $50.

All of their products are offered in bundles of almost every combination. With the bundle options, you can save 5% to 12%. You can also subscribe and save 10% on your order. With this option, your products will be automatically sent at a specific time interval.

Buying Experience

All of Betoken’s products are arranged by the concern they address rather than product type. It is a bit confusing to see what types of products they have available in an organized way, especially if you are looking for a specific delivery mode of CBD, such as capsules.

Once you have selected all of the products you wish to order, the checkout process is easy and intuitive. You can check out as a guest, or register for an account and begin collecting points to redeem for money off on future purchases.

They ship via UPS in a discreet package. The shipping costs are calculated based on your location and shipment size. We received our order in two business days in a plain white box. At this time they do not offer any exchanges, returns, or refunds.

We contacted customer service via the instant messaging box to ask about their extraction process. At first, we did not receive a response. After a second attempt, we received a Facebook messenger response, which was not expected. They answered that they use CO2 extraction.
