Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Hi, my name is Courtney Quinn, here with Leaf Report at the USA CBD Expo in Miami. I have Kai here from NanoCraft CBD. Kai, tell us a little bit about your company and its history.

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: Yeah, so we are NanoCraft CBD. We’re here at the USA Expo. We’ve been at market since October, so the whole expo thing is fairly new to us, but we’re really excited to be here. The project has been about three and a half years in the making, so it’s cool to actually see things come to life and to be here in Miami showing everyone what we got.

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Yeah it’s very exciting, thanks for being here. Tell us a little bit about your manufacturing process.

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: I mean we actually aren’t a farm, so we don’t really deal with the harvesting side of things or anything like that. But, in terms of manufacturing, we do have a direct manufacturer that we partner with, that helps us produce all of our products. We aren’t certified organic, but we practice organically, in every way possible, and everything’s non-GMO. Third-party testing for herbicides, pesticides and things like that. So we try to keep ourselves as transparent as possible, by providing our consumers with the information, the education that they need to make a good decision when it comes to purchasing CBD.

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: That’s great. How do you ensure the products quality, purity and cleanliness?

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: So we make sure that the labs that we are partnered with are certified GMP, and so even though currently the industry isn’t regulated by the FDA, we ensure that there are other certifications in place to obviously give us confidence that the product is going to fall within those regulations, so when the FDA does come in, we can ensure that we have everything in order.

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Very nice. Tell us about the range of products you have and the highlights of each product family.

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: Yeah so we’ve really tailored the whole line to be geared towards sport performance, and sports recovery, so we have all green superfood powders, we have a pre and a post workout powder. Kind of the basis of that is supporting athletic recovery, athletic performance. So the energy recovery for example, it has caffeine in it, but it also has a proprietary blend of vitamins and minerals, and branched-chain amino acids. We also have our sublingual tinctures that are used under the tongue for various purposes, whether it be sleep, or we have a day version that has vitamin B12 and caffeine in it. We have our pure versions, we have our soft gels, we have our performance waters, and then we have our transdermal salve, which is just a topical application, just for minor aches and pains, and things like arthritis, and that sort of stuff.

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Very nice. Sounds like you have some great products. What would you say is your best selling product, and why is it such a great product?

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: Right now, I think based on our actual analytics, the our night tinctures is the best product. I think there’s just such a large population of Americans that suffer from sleep disorders like insomnia and things like that, so we’ve had some great success with the night products specifically.

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Very nice. What sets your company apart from others? What makes it unique?

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: Well, we’ve really tried to stick within our niche, which is the action sports and the professional sports market, so just making sure all of our products are really … Kind of fall within the guidelines of what an athlete would consider healthy, and a sustainable method for them to use for recovery and performance purposes. Then, also just ensuring that all of our products, that just from start to finish, that we have a hand in everything and that we just ensure quality really.

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Do you have any thoughts you can share about the current legal status of CBD?

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: Yeah, I mean it’s, it’s kind of an interesting industry obviously, because there’s obviously federal law and state law that are conflicting with each other. So I think it’s just one of those things that we’re going to have to give it time to kind of let state legislation catch up with federal legislation. You still hear stories about people in different states getting pulled over with raw materials for CBD and things like that. Obviously they make it really relevant in the news, but then on the backend, they get kind of a slap on the wrist and end up walking away because, on a federal level it’s currently legal, so there’s a lot of miscommunication with the legality of things. I just think that it’s going to take some time for all 50 States to kind of get on board with what’s actually happening on a federal level. I just really think there’s just a lot of grayness to it at the moment and we’ll just have to give it some time to see where things go.

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: There are a lot of brands, demand, hype, and products, but there are no specific guidelines and regulations restricting the market. Could you give a brief overview of the emerging market from your point of view?

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: Yeah. So I mean there’s, any company can really make any claim and say anything, and do really almost whatever they want at this point. We just due diligence and take pride in the fact that we are pushing, not our product in a sales perspective, but just more so trying to push education, and you know, inform people on what CBD actually does. And you know, we just try to be completely transparent in terms of like COAs and what people are getting, what we’ve used with our products and where everything’s coming from.

So I just think that we’re gearing ourselves up to be as efficient as we can, can’t really speak for a lot of the other companies out there. I’ve seen some crazy stuff going on, but we’ve just lined ourselves up with a lot of professional athletes that, you know, really take pride in working with us and utilizing the products. And I feel like everyone internally is, has made a good fit and a good team, to kind of help us separate ourselves from other CBD companies. Because we’re not just a CBD company, we’re trying to promote health and wellness and education, and things like that. So I think that speaks a lot to the general public because we’re not just selling a product. We’re actually transparent in the fact that, you know, we are like real people here and we do use the product and we can relate to our consumers, so …

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Yeah that’s great. What do you think a user should look for in a product?

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: I think the biggest thing is just ensuring that you can get some credible COAs from where you’re purchasing from, and just knowing, being informed on the product that you’re purchasing. Because you know there are products out there that do contain trace amounts of THC in them, and if you overuse them, it could subject you to failing a drug test. And I feel like there’s a lot of companies out there that don’t actually express that with a sense of urgency for their consumer, because of the fact that you do have, you know, firefighters and police officers and you know, whatever it may be, organizations that drug test their employees. So just being transparent in that sense as well, because I have heard of a lot of stories of people buying products off of the counter and then failing drug tests. So yeah, that’s big for us, to ensure that our consumers are not suffering from that issue.

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Yeah, very good to know. Do you use CBD yourself and if so, which products?

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: I do. So the biggest one for me is probably the pain stick. Just because I grew up surfing my whole life. I still surf a ton, and so just kind of using and abusing your joints a little bit. So that’s kind of the one that I use on the daily, and then we actually have an energy recovery product that’s fairly new here. It’s essentially a pre and a post workout. It has branched-chain amino acids in it, and a serving of caffeine. This is great, just kind of in between serfs and workouts, and things like that, just kind of gives you that extra boost you need. Because I’m, I like coffee, but I don’t like to consume it all day long. So this is kind of a good replacement for that.

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Yeah, that’s great. How do you see the future of the CBD industry? Legally, classification?

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: Well, so where I would hope to see it, is to be a little bit more regulated from, you know, the FDA and from a medical standpoint. I mean my background is in clinical research, so I would hope to be able to see some more randomized control trials done by different organizations and institutions that are looking to truly get behind these products, and you know, help the FDA, and help the medical industry actually put this into practice, because it’s currently not. And I think that shifting our focus from, kind of a disease treatment to more of a preventative health kind of … Or just bringing our medicine more like preventative aspect rather than just disease care. Because I think that’s where CBD can really find it’s niche, is being a preventative aspect to medicine. So seeing more research, and just seeing that being applied in a more preventative fashion would be something that I would really hope to see in the future, and then obviously the legality that comes with that of course.

Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Yeah, great. Well, thank you for sharing your input and your knowledge with us today.

NanoCraft CBD – Kai: Yeah thank you.
